Hello Ramaht.
I feel free to make an appropiate translate of this magnific Presentation Post, so everyone can enjoy and take advantage of your sharing because unfortunetely, many people here in Spain, don't understand English, and it would be a shame.
Hope this doesn't bother you, and hope you understand it (I know you will)
Please feel free to write in English (keep doing it so), I gladly could make the translate for you as well as any other members who wish.
Thanks for sharing and please, be very welcome!

Hola Ramaht!

Hi,

First of all, thanks for the mods you guys post, they are a huge help!
Secondly, my Spanish is as good as google translate, so English will have to do, sorry...

Hola,

We got our ASX early February this year.
It's a 1.8DiD 115bhp Intense in Granite Brown.
The Intense has 16" alloys, automated wipers & lights, USB, 6 speakers, electric&heated mirrors, DRL, armrest, leather steeringwheel and shifter, cruise control, ASTC, hillstart assist, ...
Oh, and almost forgot, it comes with the hoodsensor ;)

What have I done so far with it?
- 6000k HID's
- LED in the DRL's, parkinglights, interior lights+trunk, licenseplate
- LED strip in the trunk cover
- Dual tone horn, big improvement!
- Soundproofing the glovebox and centerconsole, thanks for the guide on that one!
- Brodit Tomtom-mount
- Cargo net on the side of the trunk
- Padded the interior of the armrest so that the TT has it's own private little space ;)
- Debadged
- ASX Logo doorsill plates
- Rear electromagnetic parking sensor strip

¿Qué he hecho hasta ahora con él?
- 6000k HID
- Luces de día, de aparcamiento (?), interiores + maletero y matrícula LED.
- Tira LED en la puerta de maletero
- Claxon bitono, gran mejora!

Plans?
- Smoked vinyl over the rear lights, the orange turnsignals on the rear are the only thing I hate about the car...
- Chromed turnsignal bulbs in front
- Maybe getting it chipped and the DPF removed, but that's when the DPF starts being annoying and after the house renovations are done.
- Maybe other speakers and soundproofing the doors a bit.

Planes?

But, maybe time for some pictures ;)

As for the led strip in the trunk.
The shelf is fully removable within seconds and keeps it's original opening range. So no limitations on it. You only see the leds when you bend your head and look to the underside of it. When you stand behind the car you only see the light ;)
I've used a DC-plug for it that I connected on the original trunk lights wires. Drilled a little hole next to the original light, cursed a bit because of the tight space and managed to connect everyting.
The LED-strip itself is mounted with double sided 3M-tape to the metal crossbar and it's also glued to the actual shelf itself. Wires are taped with ducttape.

As for the cargo net, shops here don't give you anymore grocery bags. And well either we forget them at home, or they make a big mess in the trunk all the time.
Got some little plugs on ebay, drill a hole - push in plug - forget about it. And a small cargo net, also ebay.
Ran a bit of nylonwire trough the little plugs so I could hook the net in it, figured where to place it and done. The most work was drilling the holes in the plugs for the wire to go trough.

The horns are also very easy to do.
Remove the cover that's on top of the grill, take a 12 wrench and unbolt the original horn, bolt in the double set. Next make a double wire for the + connector and a double ground wire. Connect, test, put back the cover, go scare little children and old ladies.

The rear parking strip I did with a little help from the dealer. They helped me remove the bumper and find the right wire. (free of charge)
But the strip will probably be replace by normal sensors somewhere in the near future. We have a lot of false positives, and when it should beep it doesn't from time to time...

When I do more stuff to the car I'll update this post/topic.

grtz

Muy bienvenido. Recién acabo de editar el primer post.

Nice presentation, indeed!!! :D
Buena presentación, por cierto!

Hope you have a nice time among us, and really hope to keep reading your good mods!

First of all, congratulations for your work, and the time spent writing and sharing your work with us.

Now, couple of words, and some questions.

I asume the Intense model, isn't fitted with Xenon front bulbs, is it? If so, please tell us more about those 6000k HID.

Very nice job, the led strip in the trunk. How is that its glued to the crossbar AND the shelf? The DC connector, is for unplugging the leds in case you don´t need them or just to take the power? Wouldn't it better, taking electricity DIRECTLY from the lights, hiding all the cables and with no connector? Anyway, I really liked the idea!
Edited: Just got the answer thanks to Manu_Huelva... Silly me!!!

Many people have complains about the horn. Thanks for that one! Just a question... You probably know, our ASX have 2 horns at the front. Have you disabled the other original horn, or not?
Has deshabilitado el otro claxon original o no?

You're very welcome about the soundproofing of the glovebox and central console... It's just a matter or time, soundproofing the door panels...

Very nice, TomTom, mount.
Muy bonito el soporte del TomTom.

Could you take a picture of the debadged back of the car please?

I have the parkng-sensor strip, and have no false negatives. However it's true what you said about the false-positives. They could be very annoying... Thats why I only connect the sensor in few tough parking situations, as parking between columns or pilars.

Which are the parking-lights?
Cuales son las luces de aparcamiento?

If you eliminate the f*cking DPF... PLEASE TELL US HOW TO!!!
Si eliminas el p*to DPF, POR FAVOR DINOS CÓMO!!!

Regards, and thaks again!
Saludos y gracias otra vez!

Saludos :)

Thanks for the answer, Manu. I missed the part of removing the shelf.

Yes, the ASX has to horns (even though it doesn't seem so). One, for the high tones, is the one that has been removed by our friend, Ramaht, the other one, for the low tones, is harder to reach and is located on the lower central part of the front.

Idd, the intense model doesn't come with Xenons out of the factory.
So I've mounted a Pilot HID-kit that comes with bulb-warning cancelers so it works on canbus systems. I used the starters in my previous car (Volvo S40) for 3 years (100k km's) without any problems.
(on a side note, the reason the volvo was sold was because I now work at 1.5KM from home instead of 45, my wife her clio was getting old, the volvo nearly had 140k km's so it was also starting to age a bit. Needed DPF change or cancel, rear shocks, brake-pads, new wintertires next year and probably disks also then. And most of all, she doesn't like to drive the volvo herself, it's way to low. So we found a car we both liked, and got a nice deal with the yearly carshow.)

Installing a HID-kit is pretty straight forward, just follow the manual that comes with it. And put the + connector in the + and the - in the - ;)
The hardest part with the asx was actually getting the bulbs in and getting the wire trough the coverplate of the lighthousing. The original lights also run a wire trough it, so you have to drill a hole next to it big enough for the connectors to go trough. And you don't have a lot of space behind the lights, so it was tricky and well I cursed a bit at times. Just remember to make sure you put a bit of duct tape over the cable seal that comes with the HID's, otherwise you get moist & damp in the headlights.

Like Manu said, I took the power from the original light in the trunk with some scotchlocks. And the DC-connector is so I could remove the cover if I want to transport bigger pieces.
I tried to put the connector more out of sight, but the problem is that you have to dismantle half of the car to be able to get the right side of the trunk out. The left is much easier, but we aren't that lucky that the stock light is on the left...

I didn't know about the secondary horn, thanks! I'll look into disconnecting that one also when I have some time for it...

I'll take a pick of the debadged rear also then. But I left the Mitsubishi diamond logo on there, that one didn't bother me ;)
I removed "ASX" "Mitsubishi" "Cleartech" and the dealersname.

Parking lights are the W5W's in the headlights. The small lights in the headlamp-cluster.

As for the DPF, I looked into that one when I still had the S40. There's a company 25km's from here that does chiptuning and racetuning. They don't just load commercial software into the ECU but actually program each car individually.
As for the DPF, they take of the exhaust and remove the insides of the DPF. They knock everything out of that thing so that it's empty and then place the empty DPF-housing back on the car with all the sensors still on it.
Then they reprogram the ECU with fixed values for the sensors and also remove other values that would initiate a regeneration of the DPF.

Because they leave the actual outside of the DPF intact, MOT will never see that you disabled it. The ECU won't give an error when they do a readout, you don't notice it on a measurement of the exhaust gasses, and visibly they can't check it. Or they would have to remove the exhaust and look with a flashlight in it...
They've done a lot of cars already like that, Audi/BMW/Merc/Volvo/VW/Seat/...

I went there with the Volvo for a removal, but with that one the DPF has to be grinded open and rewelded. We noticed it when the car was on the bridge and all engine covers where removed. The had already done Volvo's, but none with the 1.6D PSA engine.
They didn't have a welding-station at hand at the moment (fire safety regulations) so had to make another appointment. It got busy at work for me, and well it was difficult to find a date in the first few weeks. And by the time we found a date, we decided to buy the ASX...
